Reggie Sterling K. Brown , Shy's manager, has just fired them from the second leg of the tour. These two are in dire straits.

At least not yet. First and foremost, Midge, feeling confident after some successes and looking to protect her family, has just bought an apartment.

She used her contract with Shy as collateral. Now that contract is null and void. Still, Midge has to make those payments on the apartment, which she bought from her ex ish father-in-law Moishe Kevin Pollak.

Towards the end of the finale, Susie sets her childhood home on fire to get the insurance money on the house. So not only is it a mystery when Midge will have any cash flow coming in to pay for her pricey apartment, but her manager could be arrested for insurance fraud.

Yet, Midge has major blame when it comes to being in this vulnerable position. Midge does not go that glossy. Instead, worried that Shy's all-Black audience will not accept her, Midge riffs on what Shy is like behind-the-scenes.

She paints a deeply feminine portrait of her so-called friend for laughs. Midge says she met Shy in a ladies' bathroom and he was the prettier one. She jokes that Arthur Miller is going to try to date Shy.

All together, Midge performed a set loaded with stereotypic comments one would use to describe a man as queer in the s without saying it.

That is why Shy asks Reggie to fire Midge. No matter what, Midge's comments were dangerous for a Black man in the violently homophobic '60s.

But the stand-up's actions are particularly egregious considering her understanding of Shy. Shy is gay.

The man then turned violent, beating Shy's face and possibly cracking his ribs. Shy is terrified that his secret will get out. Midge agrees.

It's Comedy or Cabbage. Midge runs into an old friend in Miami. Abe grows frustrated with his beanik friends while Rose reaches her breaking point with Shirley.

Kind of Bleau. Abe and Rose find respite from Queens while visiting Midge. Joel and Mei squabble over a liquor license for the bar. Midge helps Shy out of a scrape.

Let me start by saying this show was one of my favorites. I have been waiting a year for the third season and was so excited to watch it and unfortunately I was left very disappointed.

The third season is all about relationships imploding and has zero of the charm that the first two had.

I hate that I have to wait a year to see if they can redeem themselves for the fourth season. I thought. In season 2, I loved that they recreated the quirkiness of stars hollow in Paris and in the Catskills.

It worked there. It also worked in the department store where midge worked. I get that one of their talents is creating little communities of quirky characters, but do they always have to talk the same?

Or even the soul of the Paris and catskill quirky communities. When every group we meet talks the same and is equally zaney, then no one is. And Joel, my god, when is this bland character going to go away?

No one is rooting for Midge to be with him except the Paladinos. Midges kids are horribly annoying. And Susie has gotten annoying too.

The Sophie Lennon storyline is super boring and played out. Really wish Lenny Bruce and Tony Shalub had more time together. And there is way too much signing.

Do we really need to see full songs? My review is as fragmented as the show has become. I was born in the fifties and so went thru the historical development of this show myself.

That was the fact that enticed me to watch. I didn t expect much to see, but I was proven oh so wrong. The costumes, the roles, the theme, Plot, characters, dialog, all so hard to bring to life and yet you do take us "there" indulging our imagination.

Everybody on the show must be congratulated for being able to portray how things were way back then and so on.

Hope the show continues despite its lukewarm reviews this season. I'm definitely still a fan and can't wait to watch the other episodes.
